On what you write about education: I am reminded of the final chapter of Whiteheads "Science and the Modern World" where he critiques the lack of "value" and an aesthetic dimension to the educational system of his day, a century ago now. «Wisdom is the fruit of a balanced development.» And the project of the book is in large part showing the limits to scientific materialism. These issues are timeless. What can be done differently in this century?
Yes, in the last century there were many who tried to reinvent education (e.g. John Dewey, Maria Montessori, Rudolf Steiner, Paulo Freire, etc.), but generations later the mainstream educational system didn't change much. Even in Steiner's schools were I taught for about three years is far from the ideals Steiner himself advocated for. As described above, IMO, the reason is that the materialistic and analytic worldview is still firmly anchored in our mindset. Unless we will not see the human psychology from an integral and multidimensional perspective, where the supranational- and the soul-factor are taken into account, very little can change.
